Dear Soldiers of the Cross,
Twelve days after returning home from Alaska, Ms Sheril, two of our Grandson’s, Levi and Ledger, and I set out on the mission field to begin our vacation Bible Schools (VBS). I’ve had very little time at home this year, but what can be more rewarding than fishing for the souls of men. The Lord once again has given me a wonderful opportunity to spend some quality time with my family. I can think of no better way to share time with my two little grandsons, Levi (8) and Ledger (6) than out on the mission field. They love the work of the Lord and they already are showing a servant’s heart. I could go on and on about them, but I best be moving along.
We all traveled out to the Navajo Reservation and assisted Brother Justin Barnett, Missionary/Pastor of Indian Wells Baptist Church, with our first VBS. God met with us in a a special way through all the activities and the preaching of the Gospel. The church that was scheduled to assist us failed to show up, but the Lord gave us help through others. We had a couple from Fletcher Baptist Church, Brother Josh and sister Kathy Lanning, fly out from NC to assist, along with a group from Salt Lake City and a some of ladies from Ganado Baptist Church, located here on the reservation, came over to help. Thank God, HE always comes through. Our last day we had 80 kids attend the VBS with 11 asking for salvation. Praise the Lord!
Please pray for Brother Justin and his family as they labor here on the Navajo Reservation. Currently they have no church building, only a church site. They have no electricity on the site and the power company is asking $30.000 to bring power in. At present, Brother Justin and his family are living without electricity and running water, just like 65% of the rest of the people living on this reservation. Oh, for the heart of Nehemiah; Nehemiah 1:3 And they said unto me, the remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire. Nehemiah 1:4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven. Oh, that God would break our hearts for the souls of men and the well being of our fellow saints.
The Lord gave us a wonderful opportunity to preach for Brother Ryan Nez at Old Paths Baptist Church in Fort Defiance, another new mission work here on the Navajo Reservation. Thank God for this work among these dear folks. We also had opportunity to preach for Brother Mark Haynes at Ganado Baptist Church and for Bro Andy Magnarella on the Hopi Reservation. I thank the Lord for these open doors.
