Dear Soldiers of the Cross,
Nehemiah 2:5 “And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.” Isaiah 6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” In my last prayer letter, I shared with you the brokenness of my heart for the lack of men not willing to commit to serving God in the ministry. Praise the Lord! God is not yet finished calling men that are willing to GO.
I’m so thrilled to share with you the best news a grandfather could have. On April 30th, 2023, God called my 13-year-old grandson, Levi, into the ministry and he has accepted the call. Oh, how we are rejoicing! He also said he wanted to be a missionary to Native Americans. I must admit that we are not surprised. From a baby we all felt that God would one day use him in a mighty way. Levi preached his first message Sunday night, May 7th, at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church. Please pray for Bro Levi that God will help him as he seeks the Lord’s leadership.
God gave us a wonderful trip to six reservations in Arizona and California. We had a great visit with Bro Jacob Jones and his dear family and also his precious folks on the Quechan Reservation in Winter Haven, CA. We had great liberty in the preaching time. We also enjoyed our time with Bro Michael Veldhuis on the Cocopah Reservation near Yuma, AZ. From there we visited the Colorado River Reservation near Poston, AZ. There is a Baptist work on this reservation. God gave us an open door on the Fort Mohave Reservation in NW Arizona. There are no churches on this reservation, but some of the Native people do attend some of the churches near the reservation. We had a wonderful time meeting and visiting with some of the Mohave People. I heard some great testimonies. We are trying to set-up a VBS on the reservation. God gave us a special time of fellowship with Bro Steve DeFord and his dear family.
They took me into their home and treated me as royalty. Bro Steve is pastor of the Hualapai Baptist Church there on the Hualapai Reservation. Bro Steve gave us opportunity to share our ministry with the church. God has blessed him with an outstanding group of Native people that love the Lord. Our final reservation we visited was the Havasupai that are located down in the Grand Canyon. Bro Steve accompanied me with this visit because he knew some of the tribal members. God gave us a wonderful visit with so many of the people.
I stand amazed at all the open doors God gave me and all the right people to meet with. Praise the Lord for his guiding hand! Please pray for all these reservations that God will continue save souls for his glory.
As we labor for Christ,
