July – August Prayer Letter

July – August 2017

Dear Soldiers of the Cross,

We trust you are doing well and enjoying these beautiful summer days. July was a very busy month with several open doors into new churches, as well as visiting some of our supporting churches. We had lots to do by way of packing and gathering supplies for our upcoming missions trip.

The first week of August we had 14 from our home church (Hoopers Creek Baptist Church) in Fletcher, North Carolina, along with the Higginbotham family from Oklahoma, join us at the Faith Baptist Church on the Fort Hall Reservation in Blackfoot, Idaho. They helped in a Vacation Bible School, as well as worked on the new fellowship hall building. God met with us in a very special way, with 3 asking for salvation and many hearts revived. We averaged 40 per day in the VBS. The men and young boys that came and worked on the building were a true blessing to us and Bro Joe Copley, the missionary / pastor.  It was a very special time for me having my son Keith and my daughter-in-law Lori, as well as my three grandsons, Logan, Levi and Ledger join us in the missions work. We are looking forward to God opening many more doors of opportunity for them. Thanks to all of you that came and made the sacrifices and did an awesome job with the VBS.

After leaving the Fort Hall Reservation we traveled over to the Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon. We had a good visit with Missionary / Pastor Bro Larry McKinney and his wife Regina. Bro Larry is now the new pastor at the Warm Springs Baptist Church on the reservation. Bro Larry has been a faithful missionary to our Native people in Oregon and Washington State for more than 30 years. Please pray for the McKinney family as they labor among these dear folks.

The next week we visited with Missionary / Pastor Glenn Hohmann and his wife Deb on the Yakama Reservation in Washington State. Bro Glenn is pastor of Yakama Valley Baptist Church on the Yakama Reservation. Bro Glenn and Sister Deb have been faithful missionaries to our Native people for more than 30 years.  What a blessing! Please pray for these dear folks that God will continue to use them for His glory.

Through our visit at the Faith Baptist Church in Spokane, Washington, where Bro Greg Boyle is pastor, God has given us an open door. This church has agreed to help us next year with a VBS on the Spokane Reservation there in Washington. There is no Gospel witness on this reservation. Please pray that God will help us coordinate this project.

Because of the shortage of laborers, Sheril and I changed our scheduled meetings and returned back to the Fort Hall Reservation to help Bro Joe Copley on the fellowship hall. While there, Bro Eddie Stillwell, pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Sylva, North Carolina, and three of his men arrived at the church to install the kitchen cabinets and finish the trim work. Due to the unfinished sheetrock, we were not able to completely install all the cabinets. Please continue to pray for the completeness of this project.
