Dear Soldiers of the Cross,
For many years now, I have prayed for an open door into California. Each time I had opportunity to speak to someone from there or anyone that had any knowledge about the area, I would ask if they knew of anyone with any of the 104 tribes or 92 reservations preaching the Gospel, and no one seemed to know. I even attempted three years ago, along with Bro Durian Whittemore, to fly out and visit for myself, but God stopped us in our tracks. I purchased the wrong flight tickets by mistake, or was it God shutting the door for that time? As we drove back home from the airport at 3:00 AM that morning with our banners dragging in the sand, I could not understand why God did not want us to go. He then brought peace to my heart as HE reminded me of Acts 16:6-8, “Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.” We do know that God works by times and by seasons: Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” And the Lord gave me even more peace when he reminded me of Acts 19:10, “And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.” Now this brings me to where I want to share a wonderful open door God gave me.
This past December, the week of Christmas, while on the Maliseet Reservation in Maine giving out Christmas shoeboxes, I received a call from Bro Rudy Spit from La Vern, CA. He had located me on my website and God touched his heart to call me and inform me that he and his wife, Sister Kathy, had purchased an airplane and wanted to use it for the Lord in missions. To make a long story short, God put us together. I flew out to California on January 28th and spent two weeks visiting with the Spits family and also was able to visit 14 reservations. GLORY TO HIS NAME. God answered my prayer and allowed me to see for myself. What a joyous time it was giving out the precious Gospel of Jesus Christ to those dear forgotten people! At present I know of no solid Gospel witness on any of these reservations in California.
