June – July Prayer Letter

Dear Soldiers of the Cross,

I trust all are doing well. Because I was not able to secure two churches to help in VBS in Alaska in June, I took the time at home to build a new parking area to park our mission’s camper. God blessed with the work and this fall we want to build a garage to protect it from the weather.

We have had a wonderful July. Little Ivy Baptist Church from Madison County, North Carolina, met with us out on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota and presented an outstanding VBS. God met with us in a special way with one young Lakota Sioux boy asking for salvation. Praise the Lord! The group was truly a blessing to us and to Bro Ed and Sister Ruby, missionary / pastor of the church. During down time the group was a blessing to the missionaries by helping with much needed work around the church property. The trip was not without its troubles.  The air conditioner on the bus gave them problems during their time there, but the Lord sent them a machine that was able to fix it before they left. Adding even more stress, we had with us our two youngest grandsons, Levi who is 9 years old and Ledger who is 7.  What a blessing to have them as part of our ministry. Levi, while playing with the other kids at VBS, took a bad fall and fractured his wrist.  It seems to never fail that the devil will always try to discourage you in the work, but always remember the Lord will make a way.

We then traveled just over 1000 miles down to the Navajo Reservation in Arizona where we had 3 groups meet us, one from North Hazelwood Baptist Church Waynesville, North Carolina, First Baptist Church in Fletcher, North Carolina, and Calvary Baptist Church from Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to help us with a VBS at Indian Wells Baptist.

These three churches worked perfectly together in harmony with one another. The VBS was a great success with nine souls asking for salvation, including two adults. The group had to brave the elements of wind and dust and did so without discouragement. The missionaries, Bro Justin Barnett and wife Tiffany, have no church building currently. They have secured the property from the tribe but still have no electricity or running water. They have lived on the property without these utilities for five years. Please pray that God will meet this need. If you would like to be a part of helping with this new church plant, let me know and we can put you in contact with them.

I thank God for these great opportunities he has given us to labor for him in this “white field ready for harvest.” I can think of no greater way to spend our last days than serving the Lord out on the mission field.

Please pray for us as we head out to our next mission projects.
